On June 25, 2016, George Edgar Nelson, age 86, passed away peacefully, surrounded by his dear wife and loved ones. George was born March 31, 1930, in Brooks, Alberta, Canada, the son of Carl Olof Nelson and Hazel Duce.

On October 5, 1949, George and his sweetheart, Audrey Broadhead, were married in the Cardston, Alberta Temple. Six children were born to this union: Debra (Palmer); George; Brian, Don, Sara Jane (Graff), and John.

George was preceded in death by his parents, four of his siblings, and his grandson, Aaron. He is survived by his loving wife, Audrey, their six children, his brother, Keith, 32 grandchildren, 49 great-grandchildren, with more on the way.

George loved the Savior, and was a devoted husband and father. He had a strong witness of the restored Gospel, and loved to serve. Some of his cherished callings included scoutmaster, home teacher, stake missionary, Seventy, High Priest, High Councilman, Bishopric counselor, Bishop, and Stake Patriarch.

A public viewing will be held Friday July 1, 2016, from 7:00-8:30 PM at Wing Mortuary, 118 E. Main Street, Lehi, Utah.

Another viewing will be held the following day, July 2, 2016, from 9:00-10:30 AM at the Edgemont Stake Center of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, located at 303 W. 3700 N. Provo, Utah. The funeral service will follow at 11:00 AM at the same location. Interment will be at the Lehi City Cemetery.
